In the 21st century, humans have discovered that ancient humanoid animals have been living underground for centuries. One day, Michiru, a normal high school student, suddenly transforms into a tanuki person after running away from home. She seeks refuge in Anima City, a place designed specifically for these creatures to live freely. There, she meets Shirou Ogami, a wolf person who investigates her transformation and gets involved in even more bizarre events along the way.
