Battlestars background

Battlestars

In this game show, contestants face off against a panel of celebrities, seated in triangular formations. The goal is to strategically extinguish lights around the celebrities, aiming to capture three of them.

Battlestars was a spin-off of The Hollywood Squares, with distinct rules. Two contestants, including a champion, competed, with six celebrities appearing for a week. Each contestant used a plunger to stop a flashing light, choosing a celebrity to answer a question. They had to agree or disagree with the celebrity's answer, and the correct choice kept control. The first player to capture three celebrities won $500 and played the Picture Round. In the Picture Round, the champion identified a famous face with three segments showing, winning $5,000. The show returned in 1983 as The New Battlestars, with changes to the front game and a new bonus game, Battlestar Bonanza. In Battlestar Bonanza, the champion played with captured celebrities, answering three questions to win cash and prizes.
