The Sultan Shahryar, traumatized by his near assassination and his wife's betrayal, has become paranoid and plans to marry a woman from his harem, only to execute her the next morning. To prevent this, his childhood friend and the Grand Vizier's daughter, Scheherezade, offers herself as the bride. She must use her storytelling to cure the Sultan's madness and outwit his plans.
