A wisecracking alien from outer space unexpectedly takes up residence with the Tanner family after landing his spaceship in their garage.
The Tanner family's ordinary life is disrupted by an unexpected visitor: a small, furry, arrogant alien from the planet Melmac. They name him ALF, and as he adjusts to his new surroundings, he decides Earth isn't so bad after all. The Tanners agree to keep his presence a secret, but their cat becomes a potential concern.
