In the 1980s, a family's patriarch, Uffe, rules his household with an iron fist in Risskov, Denmark. Uffe, a psychologist and self-proclaimed "God," decides to write his memoirs, filling their home with his loyal patients who provide both moral support and drunken companionship. As his three sons, Jens, Thomas, and Mikkel, struggle to break free from their father's tyrannical rule, their mother, Gerd, tries to keep the family together.
