Two cousins, Billy and Jack, and their cousin Paddy enlist in the military at the start of World War I. Billy's exceptional marksmanship skills earn him a spot leading a successful sniper team, with journalist Keith Murdoch reporting on their exploits. As the war drags on, the team faces defeat and loss, including the death of Paddy. Back home, Billy's parents face threats from bush rangers and campaign against conscription. When Billy returns, he finds his father's grave and discovers his sister has been kidnapped. In a climactic confrontation, he seeks justice for his father's killer.
