When in Rome

A desperate American fugitive seeks refuge in Rome, adopting the disguise of a priest to evade authorities and start anew.

A Catholic priest, Father John X. Halligan, visits Rome for the 1950 Holy Year, where he befriends a career criminal, Joe Brewster, on a ship from New York City. When Brewster steals Halligan's clothes and passport to evade arrest, the priest is mistaken for a wanted man and arrested.
