In 1892 Chicago, Andy Clark discovers he was cheated out of a half interest in his partner Mike's successful dance hall. Unable to reclaim his rightful share, Andy plots to undermine Mike's position and win back his rightful place. He also sets his sights on Ruby Summers, Mike's outspoken burlesque queen, hoping to transform her into a more refined performer and win her affections. However, Andy's plans ultimately come undone at the last minute.
