In a mysterious room with a missing wall, a red-clothed puppet resides, surrounded by gadgets and snacking on dandelion tufts. He's obsessed with a peculiar painting on his table, which holds a secret that captivates a curious bird-man. As the bird-man investigates, the painting suddenly clamps shut, trapping him. The puppet, now revealed, frees a cricket from the table and sends it flying into the night. He then captures the bird-man by wrapping him in cloth, clipping his wings, and caging him in his table. With his new prisoner, the puppet takes his tricycle for a maniacal joyride around the cage.
