Three prisoners, Chickamaw, T-Dub, and Bowie, escape from prison. While Chickamaw and T-Dub are experienced bank robbers, Bowie, who was wrongly convicted of murder at 16, joins them to fund his lawyer and clear his name. They hide with Chickamaw's brother Mobley, whose daughter Keechie is initially unhappy with her life. As they plan heists, Bowie and Keechie form a bond, romantic and emotional, dreaming of a life together.
