In 1985 Manila, 15-year-old Christina convinces her parents to keep her and her siblings out of school, but they soon realize their US immigration application has hit a slow pace. With nothing to do, the kids find creative ways to pass the time during a long summer vacation, all while the country is on the brink of revolution as Filipinos seek to overthrow dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
