An American pilot, Christopher Reynolds, is shot down over German-occupied Holland and takes refuge with a Dutch family. He poses as the husband of the daughter, Anita, to convince a German officer of the need for her divorce decree. After the court hearing, Anita works at a home for retired ladies, where she tries to extract military information from the officer with Reynolds' help. When her former husband escapes from an asylum, Reynolds is blamed for his actions. With the help of the old ladies and Anita, who pretends to remarry him, Reynolds escapes to England in a stolen German plane.
