Mel Adler's apartment burns down, prompting his son to try to put him in a retirement home. However, Mel's overbearing behavior, including dictating his son's college choices, sparks tension. When Mel decides to attend his son's college, he clashes with faculty and develops a romantic interest in a teacher.
