In this World War 2 drama, a soldier named Barton deserts the army and stays with Alice, a woman caring for her farm after her husband is captured by the Japanese. They develop a romantic relationship, with Alice presenting Barton as her sister to avoid suspicion. As Barton adapts to his new feminine persona, he's eventually discovered by an army sergeant with ulterior motives. Despite Alice's warnings, Barton is convinced to attend a Christmas party at the army base, where he's forced to confront the sergeant's advances.
