Texas cattleman Jud Calvert faces post-Civil War tensions when he decides to drive his cattle to the North, defying cattle broker Vic Landeau's offer. Landeau's outlaw gang robs a bank and frames Jud, forcing him to flee to Betty Ainsley's ranch. Landeau's men kidnap Betty, leading Jud to rescue her and ultimately kill Landeau.
