In a château surrounded by flowering gardens and a menacing forest, a mysterious Painter left his artwork unfinished for unknown reasons. The painting is inhabited by three distinct groups: the Toupins, who are fully colored; the Pafinis, who lack a few hues; and the Reufs, who are mere sketches. The Toupins, believing themselves superior, seize control of the château and enslave the Reufs.
