A former mental patient, with a history of violence, is released from the institution and returns to his old neighborhood, despite his doctors' warnings. Feeling overwhelmed by city life, he decides to escape on a bus and finds himself in a peaceful coastal town. He rents a room at a small motel and becomes infatuated with the owner's daughter. However, their budding relationship is threatened when the girl's father becomes suspicious of his troubled past.
