In this gritty drama, a young police recruit, Roy Fehler, joins the LAPD to support his family while completing his law degree. Partnered with a seasoned veteran, Kilvinski, Fehler navigates the dark underbelly of Los Angeles, learning the harsh realities of policing. As time passes, Fehler becomes increasingly consumed by his work, neglecting his family and studies. A downward spiral ensues, marked by heavy drinking and a shattered marriage. Just as Fehler begins to rebuild his life, fate deals him a devastating blow.
