In 1867, Nebraska's statehood brings no lasting peace with Native Americans. Wade Harper's peace mission is disrupted when Chief Thundercloud is killed, allegedly by Harper's Indian ally Wingfoot. As Harper tries to clear Wingfoot's name, he's thwarted by the real killer, Reno, who escapes. Harper and five others, including his former lover Paris, are then trapped in a remote trading post by the aggressive Chief Spotted Bear.
