In a glass laboratory, a seven-spotted ladybug named Rube longs for the legendary bug utopia of Golden Canyon. After helping a dragonfly named Master Water escape from wasp guards, Rube is abandoned and sets out on his own to reach Golden Canyon. Along the way, he meets a frog prince and a giant bird that turns out to be an airplane. They jump off the plane and arrive at Golden Canyon, only to find it's a construction site. Rube is captured by a human kid named Little Fatty, but he escapes and helps Master Water, who is also captured. With the help of the Wasp Queen and her troops, they defeat Little Fatty's pet lizard, T-Rex, and rebuild their new home.

In a glass laboratory, a seven-spotted ladybug named Rube resides in a glass cage, yearning for the fabled Golden Canyon, a bug utopia. He finds an opportunity to escape when he helps a dragonfly named Master Water evade wasp guards that have been pursuing him into the laboratory.
