On her 18th birthday, headstrong heiress Kay Allyn is determined to marry layabout Jack Pierson, despite her father's disapproval. When the president of his own advertising company, J.C. Allyn, tries to stop the wedding with the help of a drifter named Bruce "Butch" Baeder, Kay and Butch engage in a game of wills to see who will give in first. Butch's past and Jack's growing feelings for Kay add complexity to the story.
