The Egyptian Mummy background

The Egyptian Mummy

A struggling individual finds an unconventional way to earn a profit by employing a vagrant to pose as a mummy, intending to sell the "remains" to scientists for experimentation.

A poor man, Dick, seeks to become the son-in-law of a scientist, Professor Hicks, who is searching for the elixir of life. Dick discovers the combination of chemicals and advertises for a mummy to test it on. He finds a tramp, Tim, who agrees to pose as the mummy, and together with the landlady's son, they transform Tim into a convincing mummy. Professor Hicks buys the mummy and injects the elixir, bringing Tim to life. The mummy escapes and Tim leaves, while Professor Hicks is left battered and shaken. Dick becomes rich after investing in stock and eventually marries Professor Hicks' daughter.
