A greedy film producer, in debt to the mob, decides to produce a dangerous film to kill his lead actor in a stunt and collect insurance money. However, the aging, washed-up star is revitalized by being in front of the camera again, and the producer's plans are foiled as the star survives stunt after stunt, leading to the creation of a surprise hit film.
