In this movie, Don Diego takes up arms to defend the peasants against the tyrannical Commandante. The arrival of the Governor and his daughter Isabella disrupts the situation, as the Governor is brutally murdered and marked with a Z. When Isabella discovers Don Diego's secret identity as Zorro, she orders the Commandante to arrest him, believing him to be the killer. However, Zorro cleverly turns the tables by revealing that the Commandante was the actual murderer, pointing out that the Z on the Governor's body was reversed.
