Ten Gentlemen from West Point background

Ten Gentlemen from West Point

The year is the early 19th century, and Congress is considering reviving the West Point military training academy, which originally prepared officers for the American Revolutionary War.

In the early 19th century, a young Washington socialite named Carolyn Bainbridge fights to establish the military academy at West Point. After Congress decides to revive the Academy on a one-year trial basis, Major Sam Carter is appointed Commandant. Carter believes that a college cannot produce real fighting men and enforces strict discipline to make soldiers out of the small band of cadets. The cadets face challenging conditions and punishment, leading to many resignations, leaving only ten cadets. When word arrives that Indian chief Tecumseh has gone on the warpath, Carter is ordered to quell the rebellion, taking the cadets with him. During a patrol, Shelton is shot at by an Indian and leaves his post, followed by Dawson, who is wounded. Major Carter is captured, but the cadets use tactics learned at West Point to rescue him, demoralizing the larger Indian force. However, Carter decides that Shelton and Dawson cannot remain as cadets, having violated the rules.
