In the midst of World War II, a struggling band led by Mickey Monroe finds themselves stranded in Tahiti after the fall of France to the Nazis. When they meet Suzie Durand, a talented French-American singer, they're faced with a difficult decision: take her on as their new lead singer, which they believe is bad luck, or risk starving. Despite the initial hesitation, Mickey falls for Suzie and decides to smuggle her onto their ship to the United States, complicating their journey and relationships.
