A young man, born in London to an Irish mother, is brought back to Ireland after a difficult childhood marked by bullying and a sense of isolation. Despite not knowing his father, he holds onto the hope that he will one day return. Occi's journey takes him through a mental institution and eventually to a life as a fisherman, where tragedy strikes on his trawler. As he struggles to cope with his circumstances, he faces further challenges on land.
