Lee Stevens, a businessman, and his secretary Jane Rogers head to Washington D.C. to clinch a government contract, but their plans are disrupted when Jane unexpectedly cancels their hotel reservations, citing the subpar amenities.

Lee Stevens and his secretary Jane Rogers travel to Washington D.C. during World War II to secure a government contract. When they can't find suitable accommodations, they pose as a married couple and take jobs as maid and butler in the Cromwell's home.
