South of Pago Pago background

South of Pago Pago

On a tropical island, a rebellious young chieftain's son clashes with a ruthless pearl hunter who seeks to invade his territory, using a charming seductress as a pawn to weaken his resolve.

In the 1890s, Ruby Taylor embarks on a journey from Singapore to Pago Pago, where she meets Kehane, son of the chieftain of the island natives who live without greed or evil. However, Ruby's companions have their own plans for Kehane and his brothers, driven by greed. Captain Bucko Larson, a brutal and ruthless man, uses the young men of the tribe to dive deep into treacherous waters for pearls, which he gives to Ruby in an attempt to buy her love. The young men of the tribe eventually rebel against Larson's cruelty, leading to a vicious battle between the natives' crude weapons and the white men's firearms. The battle culminates in a violent outcome after Kehane turns the white men's weapons against them.
