Simon of the Desert background

Simon of the Desert

In the 4th century, a devout man named Simon ascends a towering column in his quest for spiritual closeness to God, only to be tempted by the cunning Devil, who seeks to lure him down to earthly temptations.

Simón, a self-proclaimed sinner, chooses to isolate himself in a desert hermitage to atone for his perceived sins and resist worldly temptations. As he preaches to a devoted following of peasants and travelers, who regard him as a miracle-working saint, the devil attempts to lure him back into the world's pleasures.
