In 1987, four friends in Denver, Colorado, grapple with the devastating news of The Smiths' breakup. However, a die-hard fan, fueled by his passion for Morrissey, takes drastic measures to keep the music alive. He hijacks a local heavy-metal radio station, forcing the DJ to play his favorite Smiths songs at gunpoint, in an attempt to relive the emotional highs and lows that the music brought him.
