Shelter: Farewell to Eden background

Shelter: Farewell to Eden

In the upcoming film, a transgender individual named Pepsi escapes persecution in the Philippines and seeks a new identity in Europe. Having previously been a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, she must start anew and navigate her new surroundings.

Pepsi, a caregiver in transition, escaped her country's Moro Islamic Liberation Front and worked as a nurse in Libya for over 10 years. Forced to flee due to gender discrimination, she became an asylum seeker in Italy and later France. After crossing the treacherous "pass of death," she found work in Paris, acquiring a new identity and sharing underground spaces. Her story is a post-colonial parable, weaving together European geography and intimate drama.
