Jeannie Blake, a young singer, leaves her desert home to pursue her dreams in New York, unaware that her three guardians have struck gold. She finds work as an elevator girl at a radio station, where she meets Phil Bradley, whose singing voice is used to promote the station's star, Tim Winters. Winters, who can't sing, tries to woo Jeannie with fake love, but her rustic guardians expose him, and she ultimately falls for Phil, who replaces Winters as the station's singer.
