Edgar Brodie, a novelist, is stunned to learn from newspapers that he has passed away, only to discover it's a ruse by British Intelligence. He assumes a new identity, Richard Ashenden, and is sent to Switzerland to eliminate a German agent threatening British operations in the Middle East.
