Mary Blackwell returns to her hometown with her two children to clear out her father's house, only to discover a secluded village with its own unique way of life. Initially, the villagers are hostile, but they eventually accept the family. However, a local priest, Michael Howdy, develops an unhealthy interest in Mary's daughter Alice, sparking a series of surreal and disturbing events.
