In 1950s Hollywood, a screenwriter's Communist past comes back to haunt him as he's forced to testify before committees investigating alleged "Un-American" activities. Without a job in Hollywood, he flees to England to write children's TV shows. However, his arrival coincides with the news of his childhood friend's tragic suicide, leading him to uncover the dark connection between the two events.
