Aspiring actress Marla Mabrey arrives in Los Angeles to audition for a film project with movie mogul Howard Hughes, while meeting her driver Frank Forbes, an ambitious young man engaged to his high school sweetheart. Despite their instant attraction, their relationship puts their religious values to the test, defying Hughes' strict rule against employee-actress relationships.
