Joaquin Shannon returns from a fishing trip to find his first mate, Charles Nelson, near the lifeless body of a man he had previously clashed with. Taking the blame, Shannon is sent to prison, where he faces hostility from "Big Red" Kincaid. Despite this, he earns a parole after stopping a prison break.
