The movie tells the story of the Sand Creek Massacre, a tragic event in American history. In the final months of the Civil War, the US government wants to relocate the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes from their fertile lands in Colorado to a harsh area called Sand Creek. The ruthless Colonel John Templeton, who has failed to gain recognition in the war, sees this as an opportunity to prove himself by forcibly moving the tribes. Despite warnings from the Indian Agent, Templeton persists, and a new officer, Lt. Norman Tucker, is sent to fetch the Cheyenne chiefs for a conference. However, Templeton has ulterior motives, and the situation escalates into a brutal attack on the Cheyenne and Arapaho villages at Sand Creek.
