Bostonian journalist Shelby Naylor, still reeling from her husband's death, becomes obsessed with a high-powered police scanner that picks up radio waves, including cell phone conversations. She discovers a series of heated discussions between David Birkwell and his wife Brenda, which eventually lead to Brenda's disappearance and David's murder charge. As Shelby digs deeper, she uncovers more evidence that challenges her initial theory and puts her own life at risk.
