In 1959, 19-year-old Marita Lorenz visits Cuba and catches the eye of Fidel Castro, who offers her a position as his secretary and a chance to shape the new nation. However, she soon discovers her duties extend beyond administrative tasks and she becomes pregnant. As the FBI and CIA take notice of her, Marita finds herself in a dangerous game of espionage and deception when she is forced to return to Cuba and eliminate her former lover at the behest of her own government.
