When Charlie declines an offer to run a new branch, he becomes ill, and his wife Barbara takes his place at the bank. Despite concerns from colleagues, Dave hires Barbara, who then goes missing with $9000 from the accounts. Barbara blames Charlie, and Dave, smitten with her, lends her the money, hoping to end the troubles and prompt her to divorce Charlie.
