Mickey's busy morning takes an unexpected turn when he oversleeps and receives a frantic call from Minnie, who's already at the dance. With time running out, Mickey rushes to the dance hall, unaware that the tickets have fallen out of his envelope. Pluto, sensing his friend's distress, dashes to the rescue, but ends up accidentally rolling Mickey into a trash can, ruining his outfit. However, fate intervenes as the dance turns out to be a "hard times" costume party, where Mickey's rumpled appearance is perfectly in character. Pluto arrives just in time to produce the tickets, saving the day and earning himself a heroic reputation.
