Two rodents, Ralph Crumden and Ned Morton, return home late at night, anticipating a stern reception from their wives. En route, they inadvertently upset a cat, who gives chase and ambushes them in the dark. Believing their wives are exacting physical punishment, the rodents endure a series of comical misadventures.
