Melanie Daniel, a single mother, is forced to take a cross-country bus trip to retrieve her six-year-old son Tyler from his father Carl, who has taken him to California after a two-year absence. Along the way, she meets Ronda, Rick, and Walter, who help her on her journey and potentially lead to romantic happiness.
