Three friends, Nugget, Underwood, and Short, stumble upon a creepy Half-Way House after their stagecoach crashes intentionally. The eerie atmosphere sends Nugget fleeing to Amarillo, unaware that Short's lifeless body lies hidden in the wagon. When Sheriff Lane arrives, he discovers the body and is perplexed by Underwood's sudden disappearance, but the $50,000 cash he finds on Underwood convinces him to believe Nugget's tale.
