A grizzled ranch hand, Mackintosh, mentors a young homeless boy, T.J., and helps him stay on the right path. They find work on Jim Webster's ranch, where Mackintosh impresses with his horse-whispering skills and earns Webster's respect. When Webster asks Mackintosh to hunt coyotes, a murder takes place, and Mackintosh is falsely accused, setting off a chain of intense events.
