Macario, a poor and hungry peasant, hopes to savor a satisfying meal on the Day of the Dead. His wife's tenderly cooked turkey is a welcome respite, but his encounter with the Devil, God, and Death takes an unexpected turn. Despite their requests, Macario declines to share his turkey, except with Death, who rewards him with a magical bottle of water that can cure any ailment. As Macario's fortunes rise, he becomes wealthier than the village doctor, attracting the unwanted attention of the Inquisition.
