Walter, a young architect, abandons his wife Linda to pursue a lucrative project in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, he's nearly struck by a reckless truck driver, leading him to report the incident to the company. The driver is subsequently fired. Walter settles into his new apartment, where he meets his cantankerous landlord and eccentric neighbors. However, his life quickly spirals out of control as his drawings are sabotaged, his apartment is infested with rats, and a beautiful neighbor is brutally murdered in his bed. As paranoia sets in, Walter becomes convinced that the fired truck driver is seeking revenge against him.
