Le masque de fer background

Le masque de fer

The adventure of D'Artagnan and the Musketeers unfolds as they uncover the shocking truth about the mysterious imprisonment of the identical twin brother of King Louis XIV, France's monarch.

In 17th century France, a mysterious prisoner is held captive on the isolated Ste-Marguerite citadel, wearing an iron mask that conceals their identity. Cardinal Mazarin, ruling in the name of King Louis XIV, seeks to marry the prisoner to a Spanish infante to secure a peace treaty. However, he soon discovers that the prisoner is terminally ill and has a reckless streak. To facilitate the marriage, Mazarin dispatches Charles d'Artagnan, a skilled musketeer, and his companions to escort the prisoner to his future bride. But the prison governor's daughter, who secretly loves the prisoner, orchestrates an escape just as the musketeers arrive, setting off a chain of events that threatens to upend the carefully laid plans.
